Path of David tops the wide open field of juveniles as the favorite at odds of 5-2 on the morning line for trainer Kristin Mulhall. A bay son of Istan, he was purchased for $100,000 as a yearling and has been on the board in three of his five starts. He will be making his stakes debut after breaking his maiden last time out in his fifth career start where he delivered as the favorite. Joe Talamo will be back aboard and they will break from post position two.
Canada looking for first stakes score
Second choice at morning line odds of 3-1 is Canada for trainer Simon Callaghan. A bay son of Giant’s Causeway, he fetched $500,000 at auction as a yearling and will be trying for his first stakes victory. He broke his maiden in his third start in October and was sixth in his stakes debut in the Cecil B. Demille Stakes (G3) at Del Mar. Gary Stevens will be in the irons and they will break from the outside post.
High-priced Arabian Leopard trying for two in a row
Also in the field at morning line odds of 5-1 is Arabian Leopard for trainer Bob Baffert. A dark bay son of Scat Daddy, he sold for $575,000 earlier in the year and will be stepping up to stakes competition for the first time. After failing to hit the board in his first four starts, he broke through and won a maiden race last time out at Del Mar. Martin Garcia will be aboard and they will break from post two.
